Bypassing the Edge homepage

I would appreciate if there are any hints or tricks that allow me to bypass the Edge "homepage" and instead go directly to the set default homepage.

I do not understand the logic that you set a default homepage, but still are forced to the go to another website to hit a button that let you as a next step go to your homepage.

I do not know any other browser that behave like this.

You can set your home page in the Microsoft Edge settings by going to Appearance>customise toolbar>show home button.

Yes, but as I said: This is set correctly.
      But this does not work:
      - I always (except for first start after computer restart) get to a kind of "Egde homepage" that has a new photo background every time, and "buttons" that takes me to the most frequently used webpages. Very annoying this.
