How do I do store apps now the Store for Business is disabled?
Hi, now MS have disabled the store for business interface with Microsoft Store and disabling of the MSfB console is coming, how do we control deployment of Store apps using MECM and software center?
*************************************
We currently disable the Microsoft Store because we don't want end users installing everything on their machines. Store for business processes were working fine deploying via MECM wizard but now we've got to the point that MS have disabled MSfB functionality in the MS Store so we have a dead store app now.
We are grabbing all the appx install files and setting these up as deployments in MECM at the moment before that is disabled.
What is the process going forward to deploy apps using MECM once we can no longer get install files from MSfB?
We currently use MECM and Software center. Everything I can find suggest this isn't going to work anymore and we have to stop using software center and start doing deployments via command line in Intune using Windows Package Manager cmd line installation commands and get our users to change to Company Portal (which it looks like we have to deploy from MECM).
I'm assuming the tabs we have in our current software center for staff to go to our Employee Self Service Portal won't work in Company portal either from what I have seen.
We can't be the only ones, who is currently deploying store apps from MECM/software center, can maybe direct me to some MECM doco that doesn't mention intune or company portal. Alternately, if that doesn't exist, some doco that says that with regard to Windows store apps, MECM and Software center are dead, switch to Intune and company portal if you still want to use store apps.

rahuljindal-MVP Thanks for the response. That is the only way we have been able to find to do it, so as we are already getting complaints from our end users about Microsoft disabling the store, we are quickly going through the investigations and change process now getting that all configured and figuring out company portal and windows package manager. We are also finding that not all applications are available in that store (it appears to be when an "offline" version of an application isn't available there is no way to deploy it), so some apps just won't be available till vendors change the way they supply those applications so we are still grabbing the install files for any of those from the store for business portal before that gets taken down so we can set up deployments in MCM.
Personally I find that Company portal seems to be a step down from Software Center being slower to load tabs, less information and not having the ability to add extra tabs which is where our employee self-service currently runs from in software center. There were also several other areas where it is lacking compared to software Center. So all in all, it seems like Microsoft have created a lot more work for us but haven't given any other option so we just have to suck it up and do the work and accept the step backward, I guess. Hopefully in time, Microsoft will get all this back to a similar standard to what they had with software center. I am curious how people check their inbuilt apps are up to date now that store in no more too.

Kind of following on, we have set up company portal to do our store apps now with all those configured in Intune and all our other app deployments running via Software Center.
Obviously our store is still disabled as we don't want people trying to use it and it shows as disabled now that the Store for Business overlay is gone, however Windows still has redirects to the store. How do people deal with that now? For example, the attached Screenshot shows a message that has started popping up now. The "Get Clipchamp" button tries to open the disabled Store. If no way to stop Windows trying to open the disabled store, Is there a way to stop those popups maybe?
