Start menu searching takes 3 attempts to work

Over the past few months we have noticed an annoying issue for staff.

They click Start menu in AVD and attempt to type the name of an application for example - nothing happens.

They immediately try again, and same thing.

They try again a third time and search works as normal, bringing up the results instantly.

 

Clicking the search icon itself (beside start menu) has the same issue.

 

Has anyone else struck this and know of a solution?

what is the indexing service status?
after testing this today, the service runs constantly without fail. is there somewhere else I need to check?

Solution
The resolution to this was actually to change VM size to one with a Temp disk and thus a pagefile. Over the course of the day search would stop due to RAM limitations.
