In September, we were pleased to announce the General Availability of Pure Storage Cloud, Azure Native. A co-developed Azure Native Integration enabling more customers to migrate to Azure easily and benefit from Pure’s industry-leading storage platform – now supporting more customer workloads!
The Azure Storage team has heavily invested in our partner ecosystem to meet all customer data storage needs and make it easier to migrate any application workload to Azure. Azure Native Pure Storage Cloud is the latest example of our deep investment in partners. Pure Storage has been recognized as a leader in Enterprise Storage Systems by Gartner for 12 consecutive years thanks to their commitment to robust features, performance, resilience, and customer support. We quickly reached General Availability of the service in September and are now announcing additional Azure Service integration – provisioning volumes to Azure Virtual Machines.
Pure Storage Cloud brings the Purity OS features and value to Azure with the Portal, CLI, and Azure Resource Manager experience that simplifies deployment and ongoing management. Pure Storage Cloud is built on a solid foundation of the latest generation of Azure Virtual Machines utilizing Azure Boost accelerated networking and Azure Premium Managed Disks v2. Figure 1 - Azure Portal IntegrationOur work with Pure initially offered a tightly integrated experience with Azure VMware Solution, and today we are announcing the first expansion of Pure Storage Cloud into other Azure Services with support for volumes provisioned to Azure VMs! Pure Storage Cloud now provides a tremendous value proposition for Linux or Windows-based applications on Azure with their efficiency, protection and cloning, and performance-at-scale capabilities.
The benefits for Azure VMs will mirror those that AVS customers have come to rely on, like a US-based financial services firm with over 300 VMware VMs who moved their VMware environment to Azure discovered. Their workloads are primarily SQL, business applications, and virtual desktops. They found Pure Storage to be extremely cost effective (20 to 40% lower than the out-of-the-box AVS deployment) while providing the enterprise class Storage features they relied on on-premises.
