Hello there, Insiders! We hope you were able to have a relaxing transition into the new year, and we’re looking forward to the year ahead. We worked on a couple things while we took a break in our communications over the holidays, so let’s jump into what changes we made in December.
This month, we are marking Restore tabs if Edge or the OS is restarted for any reason as Addressed! The team has done a lot of work around this experience and believe the majority of issues that were reported by you Insiders have been addressed. We do understand that sometimes bugs can happen! If you see any issues with your tabs restoring after Edge or your operating system shuts down, we encourage you to submit a bug report directly through the in-app browser feedback tool. Head to the … menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback and detail what happened as well as including diagnostics so that the team can investigate. The team will be able to dig further into the situation after that, and if you include your email address it will enable us to update you as we take action on your feedback.
We are moving Users can move Vertical Tabs to the right side of the screen from Under Review to Planned this month! We don’t have any specifics that we are sharing with this update, but know that the team is looking at the different ways this can be done. We will share more once we understand these options!

Thank you for the update. I see people are interested in the Microsoft Edge and new citation feature in the Collection is also cool. Hope with the help of the community make the Microsoft Edge better and users set it as their default browser.
Opening a new tab is too slow. It freezes for some time(altough small around 400ms) and is very annoying. I won't call it a finished browser. Starting a new tab in firefox is fluent.
Hi, in what version of Edge do you have such problems? The Windows theme is also important! In the Microsoft store you can download a new system theme, or in the system and in Edge you can have a black background - for everything, when you turn on (high contrast) of course it requires changing the settings .
@A1 The dark mode issues are on all versions of Edge in past 2-3 months... currently the latest 97.0.1072.76, the white flashes has been there ever since they added a dark mode.... And I have everything on Dark Mode, I can't stand anything light! I always say they can't be that lazy and they must have known about these issues and they will fix it soon... and I keep sending them EVERYDAY in the feedback of the browser... But NOPE, no fixes at all like they are not aware of what they have done or it's like they don't even test their changes!! They ruined the dark mode and left it like that, now they ruined the PDF files previews and also left it like that...
This is (high contrast) you are using and it's very dump and ruins the themes and designs of the websites. Last time high contrast was relevant was in Windows 98 because its based on its design.
This is a very very small example of how broken the dark mode is ! I'm talking about the dark mode that in the Flags, also with the dark mode theme:
There are many other bad colors in many areas on facebook, AND in every other website!! Literally any website is like that not just Facebook!! It's been like this for MONTHS !! Like are you guys seriously never tested this all this time???!!! And the white flashes every time you open Edge or open a new website is even worse than this!! It will literally blind me soon! Useless browsers like Vivaldi doesn't have these problems in dark mode.... which means they are doing a way better job than MS team in here...
I send a message literally daily to the feedback of Alt+Shift+I for about 2 months and still nothing changes! I don't attach the diagnostic data though! I just send the details of the problems.. But from now on I'll attach the diagnostic data too.
Thank you! The most valuable for the Edge team is diagnostic data - this allows you to check for errors on different computers and different configurations! only in this way can you prepare patches for all users of the :)
Would be great if instead of just having the ability to move around tabs from left to right, to have them available for all three places at the same time (top, left, right.. maybe even bottom?) would be even better for power user and to kinda separate some needs (on top of just using tab groups), eg. right tabs for social media and emails, left tabs for work related, top tabs for casual/once-off browsing, etc.
