October 2016 Cummulative Updates Cause SCOM 2012 R2/2016 Console Crash
There is a known issue with the October 2016 CU patches causing SCOm 2012 R2 / 2016 console crashes. The product group is aware of the issue and is working on a fix. For more information, read this blog post. There is also a discussion on TechNet which you will find here.

It appears a fix for the SCOM console crash issue has been released. See KB link:
