SAP generally released SQL Server 2014 for SAP NetWeaver two weeks ago. As of last week, the SQL Server 2014 In-Memory Optimized Columnstore is generally available for all supported SAP BW releases. The required SAP BW Support Packages are described in detail in https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Running-SAP-Applications-on-the/SQL-Server-Column-Store-for-SAP-BW-Status-and-Release-Planning/ba-p/367854.
SQL Server 2014 Columnstore can now be used in three scenarios within SAP BW:
- Read-Only Columnstore on the e-fact table of SAP BW cubes and aggregates in BW 7.x
- Writeable Columnstore on f-fact and e-fact table of SAP BW cubes and aggregates in BW 7.x
- Columnstore Optimized Flat Cube in BW 7.4
