Today at the SharePoint Conference, we announced several new innovations for the intelligent intranet, powered by Microsoft 365.

We continue to work hard to empower people at every level of the organization to engage across Microsoft 365, and we’re excited to announce new capabilities even more capabilities across the entire intelligent intranet solution.

SharePoint home sites

Today, we announced a revolutionary step forward, further accelerating time-to-value for customers. SharePoint home sites are an intelligent, integrated employee experience—a landing page—for your organization that:

  • Connects the workplace with Microsoft Search and megamenu navigation
  • Shares relevant news and content to each user based on their role and place in the organization
  • Engages employees with conversation and compelling video powered by Yammer and Microsoft Stream
  • Powers individual productivity with personalized content, information, and navigation.

New organization site design

Building a great looking site for your organization shouldn’t have to take months.  With the new organization site design, you have a starter design to get you going fast.  New layout options, like a vertical section, and new webparts provide additional design options to meet your needs with less development time.

Your personal space on the intranet

Find what matter to you with the personalized SharePoint start page.  The SharePoint start page offers you personalized navigation to find where you want to go.  Personally relevant content, such as news, sites, and links, help you find what you need.  My documents and Saved for later help you find what you want to get back to.

The SharePoint start page is connected to your home site and carries your home site branding to allow your employees to transition seamlessly between their “org space” and their “me space”.

SharePoint hubs limited raised to 2,000

Hubs enable connecting related sites together to create a shared navigational and content experience. In order to meet the needs of many organizations, we are increasing the hubs limit from 100 to 2,000 providing even more flexibility on how you can organize your sites.

Designs to inspire

Looking for beautiful sample content for your intranet or as a starting point for your own designs? Now tenant administrators can take advantage of the SharePoint Provisioning Service to automatically provision SharePoint Look Book designs to any tenant in the world. This gives an awesome opportunity to get familiar with the modern portals and to provide example structures which can be used anyway as preferred.

Improvements to your organization’s custom theme

To help you represent your company or school brand with a higher quality logo on the Microsoft 365 navigation bar (including SharePoint), we are adding new capabilities to the custom theme. We've added the feature to use a URL to upload logos in any format or file size, and benefit from an improved clarity of your logo. We're also adding SVG file support so your logo looks great on any screen size. Learn more here.

Drive end user awareness

Ready to launch your solution? Prepare your end users with an awareness campaign, leveraging SharePoint news of course. You’ll find news post samples to get you started on your first post, flyers for those that love hard copy prints, and even high-resolution poster templates. Get the word out!
