Updated 1/15/2021 - We’ve been working hard since announcing a new reporting framework since posting this blog, and wanted to provide an update on some new reports that have shipped as well as the current list of migrated/new reports all up. See: Microsoft Endpoint Manager Reporting blog for 2009 release and Introducing New Policy Reports & more in Microsoft Endpoint Manager Reporting to learn more!

We started to roll out the new reporting framework on November 21, 2019 in preview with the first set of device compliance reports. After giving a preview to Ignite attendees, posting MC194860 to all Intune customers about this, and general announcement here, we appreciate all the feedback we have received.

The device compliance reports are out for general availability and the new devices list is in preview. You can find documentation on the new reports here.

New Devices lists

The Devices lists in Intune and Intune for EDU are available on the new platform. These lists have upgraded controls for search, sort, filter, export and with better performance. Check out the support tip blog here.

Device compliance reports

These reports are the first set to be introduced on the new platform. Here's what you can expect:

The new reports that have replaced or added to the prior compliance report are:

  • "Non-compliant devices" operational report. This can be found under the device compliance resource blade (on https://portal.azure.com) and under devices -> monitor (https://endpoint.microsoft.com).
  • A new device compliance summary page on the new reports blade.
  • "Device compliance" organizational report. This can be found on the new reports blade.
  • "Device compliance" trends report. This can also be found on the new reports blade.
  • "Device compliance" entry point to logs. This way you can easily get to additional logging information as needed.
  • “Device compliance” and “Device compliance status” tiles on the dashboard page.

On https://portal.azure.com, the following are now removed:

  • “Device compliance” under the device compliance resource blade
  • The device compliance tile on the Intune overview and device compliance resource blade

On the https://endpoint.microsoft.com, the following are now removed:

  • “Device compliance” under the Monitor section of the devices resource blade

New features & improvements

We have made a number of improvements in the device compliance reports:

  • We now support localization in the console reports and ability to do string mapping with log analytics.
  • Exporting the reports goes to a zip file type instead of a gzip file. You can unzip the file to a .csv.
  • The tiles for “Device compliance” and “Device compliance status” on the dashboard page of https://endpoint.microsoft.com are now updated with accurate aggregate information.
  • You'll also see a few small bug fixes and design improvements.

MC194860: New Reporting Framework Coming to Intune

Starting in the November service release, you’ll begin seeing a new reporting framework in Microsoft Intune. Based on customer feedback, we are making improvements to the types of reports in Intune, the performance and data consistency, and report functionality to search, sort, filter, and export to create focused view. The first series of reports are for device compliance.

How does this affect me?

As new reports release, you’ll see them in console. For some reports, you’ll see a Preview tag. Know that preview reporting is completely supported by our customer support organization and any customizations you make will be saved as we move from preview -> general availability of the new reports. Unfortunately, due to fundamental changes made to the reporting framework, we cannot keep the preview and existing report side-by-side as the underlying data may show different results. If your organization cannot use a report with a Preview label, head to the All Devices report which has all of the categories and information.

What do I need to do to prepare for this change?

First off, as you start seeing the new reports, let us know what you think of them by commenting on the blog announcement linked to in additional information! You don't need to prepare for this change, but may consider notifying your helpdesk. On November 14th  On November 21st, we will be posting and updating an Intune Customer Success blog post (That's this post!) with detailed report information including preview report release information so you can track the release of your favorite reports.

At what interval is device data gathered on the endpoint, uploaded and available to see in a report? We're concerned it may take several hours for certain conditions to be visible, if we rely on these reports alone.
