Canary in Microsoft's definition is not daily (every 24hrs) updates.
Firefox nightly and Chrome canary both always release at least 1 update in every 24 hours.
but Microsoft usually releases update for canary channel every 3 days and for Dev every 7 days.whenever there is a holiday or weekends, we don't get any builds. but this is NOT the case with Firefox and Google chrome canary. they don't care if it's holiday or weekend, they are still committed to release the daily updates. I've seen it and experienced it in the past couple of months.
Canary is intended for web developers or enthusiasts to try new features or for the browser developers to fix very super severe bugs. these little small tiny issues are supposed to be fixed in other channels, because Canary is all about quick updates and fast feature roll out, the rest should be handled and polished by other channels that take more time to release. for example Dev channel gives Edge developers 7 weeks to receive telemetry data, feedbacks from users and enough time to evaluate them and release subsequent patches.
Beta channel takes 6 weeks approx which puts the browser code under microscope to further find and fix any possible bugs before it goes to the stable channel.
even during the stable channel, updates are still released sometimes.
