@Dennis5mile @HotCakeX, we had a pretty good wind storm last night and some of us lost power, which threw a bit of a monkey wrench in our plans. We just pushed the button to publish the build. It should be live now. Thanks - Elliot

@dustytravel I think you found it from the link I posted in last week's top feedback summary, but this week's is here: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Articles/Top-Feedback-Summary-for-October-8/m-p/900617.

News feed is still completely broken in Dev Version 79.0.294.1. Is it still a bug or am I the individual facing the problem?
Please someone inform.
Thanks

I am having excessive cpu usage at startup. Besides edge becomes laggy while watching 1080p+ youtube video. Also it has the full screen open/close bug from chrome.

Still no option to directly open a downloading file (without first saving it)
All other MS browsers support this feature.

In the Sync settings I see all the grayed-out options (like syncing tabs and history) are gone. I hope this doesn't mean you're dropping the future rollout of those features. I'm counting on syncing history, tabs, settings, etc. at some future point, please tell me you're doing this.

Hi,
this is the developer's response to this:
"this is not a mistake. It is also not a change of plans. We are still working on bringing History sync, Extension sync, and Open Tab sync to our next version of Edge. We are cleaning up the UX in the meantime, as we have heard feedback that it is confusing to some people why the setting was greyed out."

Yes, it's a must-have feature!
it's still in their list as "under review", been there for 7 weeks now

Provide run / open / save / save as options when downloading files |

Whew! Thanks for the explanation from the developer, it's great to hear that the features are still coming. It's the one thing from Chrome that I miss.
Incidentally, I noticed in the latest stable Chrome that they added the cool favicon/spinner animation that Edge sadly removed in the last build. Hopefully that will make its way back in too. I thought it was very helpful.
You're welcome ^^
Yes absolutely, to me History and Extension sync are as important as favorite sync
Yeah, when it was added, some people in this forum posted that it's a bug, I knew it was a new feature but since other people asked to be removed, Edge devs removed it..

@josh_bodner this release claims there are fixes to IE Mode, however, I can't see IE Mode in all recent releases, though it's enabled in flags. How to work with it?
10-09-2019 05:51 AM
Hi,
in addition to enabling the flags related to IE mode, you also need to add the group policy files to your computer/server for the Edge insider, only Dev and Beta are supported for now.
you can get the policy files from here:
https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/enterprise
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/edge-ie-mode

@HotCakeXThank you!
I hope IE Mode will get much easier to use, not only enterprises need it. For instance, there are banking and tax management applications written in Java (due to need to use cryptography, I believe), which require launching java plug in. And it looks like it's much easier for a consumer to launch IE directly than to configure IE Mode in Edge Preview.

@josh_bodner no audio in dev edge on a sp6 since update. I was running the canary, it updated, lost all audio and i couldn't get it working again, so I switched to dev, and now that dev has updated it's not working again. Any ideas?

@atifchy I also am seeing this issue with the laggy YouTube videos.

Happy to see the Renderer Code Integrity issue being addresses. This one had pushed me back to Firefox (ack!) as I posted about in the forums. Glad to be back on the dev and beta. ;)

@josh_bodner favorites are still self migrating off the favorites bar when rearranged.

@HotCakeX You will understand it after seeing this images.
⬆ that happens after clicking esc.
Also I was having black screen on some videos so I disabled hardware acceleration video decode.

Environment friendly feedback - aka recycled since none of it has been done and is blocking for a browser change
1. Google integration - No thanks. I value privacy - not Google profit
2. Fix the favorites icon - it's still the wrong one
3. Add these buttons to the favorites menu
3. prevent mouse button hijacking
4. Fix Epub

Thanks, Yes I have the same black bar at the bottom that appear for a few milliseconds after I click on the full screen button.
This happens on Chrome, Edge insider and Edge classic, (on Edge classic it's white bar instead of black)
I think it's a problem with YouTube website itself. it can't be that all of these browsers have bug even when they have different engines (EdgeHTML and Chromium).

I got a SP6 and I got sound in both canary and dev. Both fully updated so it's not a affecting all error.

I can't use the smiley face icon or menu to Send Feedback. Clicking on either will crash Edge.
UPDATE: It seems to be working now. Not sure what was causing the crash issue, but it was a fresh install on a (practically) brand new MacBook Pro running Catalina. Edge was installed after the Catalina update.
The high CPU usage and fan seems to mostly come into play when a video is playing in chrome (including autoroll ads on news sites), but I've not narrowed it down entirely.

@Spaceball_Seven
That's rather odd, but, try using THIS.

That's really bad, try reinstalling the browser and during uninstall, when asked, choose to remove all data along with it.
because for these kinds of technical problems, a simple form is no good. the smiley button allows you to send Additional data to help them identify and fix the problem and also what is going on in your system while the CPU usage spike occurs.

Great work on the recent builds Team!
I'm noticing some high CPU usage in the latest build on Mac - my workstation was updated to Catalina last night so not sure if that has anything to do with it.
Also, are there any plans for a dedicated "Check for updates" button on PC like there is in Mac's "Help" menu? Having to go into Help & Feedback > About Edge for manual update checking is quite tedious.
Looking forward to future builds! :)

@CIMarketingVideo
I'll stick my nose in & say something about the updating for you. Presently, we are updating beta builds, previews, test rats, call the Edge C Channels whatever, but... once with a non-beta, non-Insider Build, it will not be manual or frequent updating. Will be similar to Edge being kept up to date; it will be Edge being kept up to date (wink). Consider, currently, there are 3 (different) Channels and 3 (different) rates of updating; that's no norm in daily practice with an entrenched browser which, Edge C isn't, yet. It's a work in progress, now and won't be manually updating after it's done & kicked out the door.
Cheers,
Drew

I'd like a dedicated update button as well. the current system is taken from Google chrome without any changes. in the past Microsoft relied on Windows update to ship updates to their browsers (IE and Edge classic), so they should create a new system for the new Edge too, like you said a dedicated button for update.
I also think they should add a setting in GP to let us change the frequency of the auto update checking cycle. like set it to every 30 mins, 1 hour or 24 hrs.
of course the shorter durations are better for Canary.

Even when the stable version of Edge will be released, that doesn't stop Beta/Dev/Canary users.
google chrome stable is released but there are still huge number of beta/dev/canary testers for the browse, they range from enthusiasts to developers and anyone in between.
most of us are used to more regular updates and I believe a good amount of people will want to still have faster and sooner access to the new features in Edge insider so they'd keep a Dev/Beta/Canary version beside the Stable version.
so my point is, a dedicated update button and an ability to set update cycle for Edge insider is a good idea. google chrome is missing this feature and it makes it double important for Edge to implement it as an advantage.

@HotCakeX "I'd like a dedicated update button as well."
What exactly do you mean by this? You want to be able to request it or do you want to be able to stop it?
I only ask because, like Chrome itself, if you go to the About Microsoft Edge menu item, it will check for the most recent update and download if there is one. It's the default action in Chrome and I assume it is in Edge as well.

@josh_bodner I see others are reporting high CPU utilization on this build in macOS Catalina. I'm experiencing the same thing and it's with static pages. At one point I saw my CPU utilization by Edge get near or exceed 500%. I'm unclear the cause since it seems to just increase over time and I'm looking at largely static pages, downloading files, and not watching video/listening to audio from the browser.
