Context
We started developing an Outlook add-in, to replace our current one, which is a COM based add-in, since the new version of Outlook won't be compatible with COM add-ins. While going through the requirements for the new add-in, we saw that the add-in will only be available to accounts connected to an Exchange server or Microsoft 365.
Issue
We have some clients that use Outlook with POP/IMAP accounts. In this scenario, the new add-in won't even be displayed to them. We researched some workarounds to solve this situation, but none of them seem really feasible from a programming standpoint.
Request
Add support to POP/IMAP accounts in the Outlook add-ins, to avoid forcing our clients to change theirs mail server to Exchange, since we consider this impractical.
If this is already being developed, we want to know if there is any estimative to when it will be released. Meanwhile, we also want to know if there is any way to display the Outlook add-ins to POP/IMAP accounts.

That is exactly what we want. Most of our email accounts are POP/IMAP accounts. We made some highly useful add-ins by using VSTO. We cannot port them to new add-ins to continue to work for POP/IMAP accounts.

POP is outdated technology. If your users won't consider upgrading I find it unlikely that they are considering spending any money with you.
