Currently we cannot control or resize the width of the task pane in new outlook or on the web.
We have a requirement to resize the width of the task pane programmatically as this will facilitate the easier display of various content, whether large or small.
Please consider this as a feature request for adding support to control the width of the task pane programmatically.

Outlook Extensibility is currently evaluating the feature to allow resizing of the add-in taskpane on Outlook web and New Outlook for Windows. Very strange that this wasn't a day one feature.
