Have an event to notify the addin that the user hs selected a custom ribbon

I have a addin, that uses a custom ribbon tab.  I would like to open a taskpane, when the user selects my custom tab and sees my ribbon.

Note that I do not mean when the user clicks an item on my ribbon, but rather selects the ribbon.
