Currently the PowerPoint API doesn't support any mechanism to inform the user some background process is being executed. For example, clicking a ribbon command doesn't show any feedback that its action is in progress (e.g., opening a taskpane).
Would be useful to be able to show such kind of info to the user in the bottom status bar
