Sep 19, 2024You should be able to target a win32 as required to a group and target it as available to a group. This should put it into Company Portal and install it on the system. Your technician could uninstall the app (locally) and then the user can open Company Portal and install it again. Is this not working for you?

Hi Eric, I gave that a go in the past and it seemed like the required deployment was overriding the available deployment, it didn't show up as available. I'll give it a go again, could be I just didn't give it long enough or goofed something up. Thanks!

Give it a try, it's been a while since I've personally done this but I know it's worked in the past. You can test by making it available to the user before required and then add the required assignment and confirm it doesn't disappear from the Company Portal. If it does, comment below this and I'll see if this is a new behavior or not.- Luke_DavidsonSep 19, 2024Copper ContributorClosing the loop on that, it looks like it does work! One thing that is odd is that one client has only the "Reinstall" option, while another has "Uninstall". As an aside, for win32 apps, does reinstall actually run the uninstall cmdline and then reinstall? Or does it just run the detection and then install cmdline if detection failed?

Make sure the app's properties are such to "Allow available uninstall" which will then make it uninstallable via Company Portal (a relatively new capability). https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/apps/apps-win32-add Allow available uninstall: Select Yes to provide the uninstall option for this app for users from the Company Portal. Select No to prevent users from uninstalling the app from the Company Portal.
