Will there be a supported provision where a device is kiosk'd into Windows 365? Having the ability to purchase a relatively low-spec device and force the user into a Windows 365 session would be a good solution. I personally like the idea of a device being enrolled into Autopilot and the second a user takes it out of the box and logs in, they are put straight into their Windows 365 session instead of local windows.

Jul 21, 2021Thanks for the scenario suggestion, and I'd love to understand it a bit more.
In this scenario, would you also plan on having the Autopilot managed by the organization? If so, what would be the deciding factors between sending them to a Windows 365 experience versus working locally from that device?
- Rhys WilliamsJul 21, 2021Iron ContributorHi Christian, Autopilot would be the driving factor in ensuring the device is locked into the Windows 365 session out of the box. We have begun a large scale project of giving every single one of our students their own device in the school, all currently build with Autopilot but the devices are relatively expensive to be able to last their school life. If the devices could be lower spec, would lower the cost and then allow us to run all of their sessions using Windows 365. This also gives us the opportunity to give students studying a more IT focused course, like 3D modelling, the ability to have a GPU-focused SKU and improve their experience overall, without them having to have a more high-spec device. The deciding factor for me is mainly the device the user is going to be using. The ability to have effectively a spec which is interchangeable by the Windows 365 SKU without changing the physical hardware itself is a very positive advantage.

Thanks for the explanation, I can definitely see the value in what you're describing.
At the moment, we don't have a curated scenario to provide a "Windows 365-only" experience for physical devices, delivered through Autopilot. I'll take this back to investigate more.
