from the theoretical knowledge it seems that MSIX is still a niche and has some limitations due to technical reasons. Windows 11 will allow non MSIX apps (win32) in the Store. Which is great yet:
What is the strategy with MSIX for on-premises application deployment outside AVD?
Is it considered to be a better successor of MSI and other installers?
Some would want to have an easy usage of MSIX for Windows Server, same for Winget to manage their software deployment and dynamic assignment (msix app attach) on Windows 10/11 on-premises and definetely Windows Server 2019 and later.
What are your plans for these scenarios? Can we expect that MSIX will be a universal tool to deploy apps on-premises for Client and Servers?
Outside of Microsoft Projects on github I see pretty much no one adopting MSIX as a default or common installer, very unfortunately. Is this something you are working on and what is the feedback from developers and vendors about MSIX?

We are looking into adopting the Windows Package Manager to as many supported OSes as possible. At this time there are limitations in the Server 2019 that prevent the Windows Package Manager from running correctly, so it is not supported. We are exploring Windows Package Manager and MSIX app attach for user on future Windows Server versions. For Windows Server 2022, feel free to download the insider version of the Windows Package Manager and let us know your feedback: https://github.com/microsoft/winget-cli
- Karl-WEJul 21, 2021MVPHello John, here is a blog from an expert I regularly exchange on twitter doing AppV and MSIX as main business. https://www.andreasnick.com/112-install-winget-and-appinstaller-on-windows-server-2022.html His passion was key for me to even "bother" with MSIX and/or winget on Windows Server. I really hope that the integration of MSIX in Windows 2022 can continue because it is an LTSC release with obvious restrictions. Have you heard anything about Windows Server SAC? It seems it is completely gone.
