I have spent the entire day trying to manage Windows LAPS from a workstation. RSAT tools for LAPS are not easily enabled (command documented is invalid) and is frustrating. How is this going to be improved?

May 31, 2023What version's RSAT tools are you trying to manage from?
- crysalis010May 31, 2023Occasional ReaderI have installed both versions of RSAT and can't tell which one is "taking precedence". The documentation on this is confusing https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/laps/laps-faq https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/laps/laps-management-user-interface#windows-laps-snap-in-availability The command in the second link does not work for workstations.

Hi Jeff, sorry you are having problems with this. It is not easy to tell which one is taking precedence if you are in the situation where you have an older external pkg version of the RSAT tools installed. Also, the cmdline that is listed in the docs is only suited for Windows Server skus. If you are doing this from a Windows Client sku, please follow the steps in this paragraph from the docs: You may install RSAT on client platforms by going to Settings, then Apps, then Optional Features, and then install RSAT (specifically search for and install "RSAT: Active Directory Domain Services and Lightweight Directory Services Tools"). Lmk how it goes, feel free to PM me and we will get it figured out. Jay
