AMA: Windows Autopilot
Event details
Thank you for answering my question about REQUIRED apps and using the ESP Block list Maggie.
I've read on the MS forum, and other blogs, that this block list does not prevent all REQUIRED apps installing, whether they're on the block list or not. Hence we haven't implemented this method. Is there any truth in this please?

Microsoft
Take a look at this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/intune-service/enrollment/windows-enrollment-status?source=recommendations#block-access-to-a-device-until-a-specific-application-is-installed. The behavior defers based on the mode and type of app. Hope this helps!

You are correct, in Autopilot v1 at least, according to Michael Neihaus and my experience. All Required apps have the potential to land in OOBE, but once all blocking apps are installed it'll move on. With APv2, only blocking apps should install in OOBE - I can't vouch for that as we can't use APv2 since it's still missing a boatload of functionality.

Hy,
which functionality are you missing in APv2:
TPM Attestation, Self Deployng?
Pre-Provisioning?
HAADJ?
Then you are right, but the purpose and benefits also the enhanced ability to monitor the enrollment are pretty much straight forward and bring also a lot of benefits.
I think both of them are to use based on your current requirements, they are working on the that in order to improve the backbone’s day by day 😉
Good luck!
