- NigelIron ContributorUsing Windows Corporate Identifiers, would we need to upload all known devices, or would existing Autopilot traditionally registered devices be still corporately identified?

Thanks for participating in today's session of AMA: Windows Autopilot! For reference, the panel covered your question at 38:45.

Devices registered with Autopilot service are already considered corporate and there's not change to that, so you will not need to upload their corporate identifier for those devices.- Sal_INC2Occasional Reader
Try this link, apprently Microsoft considers this as optional ---> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/enrollment/corporate-identifiers-add#add-windows-corporate-identifiers/
- NigelIron ContributorIs self-deploying mode finally out of Preview?
- FrankRojas
Microsoft
Yes. See the announcement here: https://learn.microsoft.com/autopilot/whats-new#windows-autopilot-self-deploying-mode-is-now-generally-available-- NigelIron ContributorAmazing thank you
- JoeLentzCopper ContributorOne concern I have with Self-deploy mode is that a primary user is not set. So IT Ops teams would have a more difficult time looking a user up to find their device. Are there any plans to add an option to set the first user to login (or something to that effect) as the primary user? Or some other control to update the primary used like how SCCM can set a devices primary user based on usage?

Self-deploying mode isn't really intended for single user devices so I'd suggest revisiting why you want to use this mode and why you can't use one of the other modes.
- JoeLentzCopper ContributorWhen should we expect to see these new features in our tenants? Our tenant cannot currently see them.
- Deepika-Wadhwa
Microsoft
These are currently in the process of being rolled out.
- JajaborCopper ContributorIn Autopilot device prep if I'm not declairing my company devices in Corporate Device Identifier, is there any other way to identify them?

- Joe_FriedelBrass ContributorWe changed the new Entra setting "Registering user is added as local administrator on the device during Microsoft Entra join (Preview)" to None expecting this would make the only way for the registering user to become an admin be from an Autopilot profile that sets the User Account Type to Administrator. Instead, all devices completing Autopilot had no accounts as administrators regardless of the setting in the Autopilot profile. Is this the expected behavior? If someone does a manual Entra join, we don't want them to be admin, but we have one scenario where we need the user to be admin and have the Autopilot profile set that way.
- JajaborCopper Contributor
If you want to have a local admin account, you can create a new local admin account using OMA-URI and use LAPS.
- Jason_Sandys
Microsoft
To my knowledge, yes this is expected behavior. For your scenario, you should block personal enrollment to Intune and use CA to block access to corporate resources from an unmanaged device.- Jon_Andes
Microsoft
The most secure setting wins, so Entra policy setting to None wins out in this case.
- techsaitechOccasional ReaderCan you share insights about how copilot can be customized and securely used for educational institutions, hospitals and financial institutions? Can you share any reading materials to build custom autopilots and deploy in azure.

While this is a great question, this really isn't in the scope of this AMA and thus outside the specific expertise that the SMEs and experts here and on camera are prepared to answer. I don't think we have an AMA for this specifically during this event so I don't have anything specific to point you to unfortunately to have your question better addressed.
Just to clarify here, Autopilot is not the same as Copilot. Autopilot is Microsoft's cloud Windows provisioning solution. Copilot is Microsoft's gen AI solution.
- Sal_INC2Occasional Reader
There are several Autopilot deployment methods such as: User Drive mode, self deploying, windows autopilot reset, pre-provisioning and support for existing devices. What is everyone's favourite at Microsoft? What would you recommend and why? What have you guys seen a lot of businesses use?

- Andreas_Wi401Copper ContributorWill there be improvements during Autopilot for application installation in the way that installations of apps will be done more in parallel than one after the other to speed up the enrollment time of a device?
- JoeLentzCopper ContributorAt the very least could all applications continue to download and cache while others are installing. For example, while App A is installing App B can go ahead and begin downloading/caching instead of waiting on App A to complete installation before it starts downloading.

Andreas the process that Jon mentions is documented here: https://learn.microsoft.com/autopilot/device-preparation/tutorial/user-driven/entra-join-workflow#windows-autopilot-device-preparation-user-driven-microsoft-entra-join-process
- yschlechtCopper ContributorHello, my questions are below - many thanks for your support :) - Why was Autopilot Device Preparation developed? What advantages should it offer? Who is the target group to use it? Is it primarily for government customers? - Based on which factors do I decide whether I should use APv1 or APv2? - Is it intended that OEMs can upload the corporate device identifier to tenants? - Is there a way to upload the corporate device identifier via PowerShell script? or is a script for it in planning? - Troubleshooting: Registry? Event Viewer? Scripts? o e.g. Application and Services Logs –> Microsoft –> Windows –> Provisioning-Diagnostics-Provider –> AutoPilot - Is it correct that all Autopilot-enrolled devices have Ownership Corporate? If so, is the idea of the Corporate Device identifiers mechanism meant to upload only corporate devices identifiers and thus consider all others as personal devices?
