I noticed when I set WUfB via Intune and also specify that drivers should also be counted, I noticed that often the optional updates (mostly consisting of drivers) that these are not automatically installed. Is there a reason for this or is there a setting option that you can enforce this?

Today WUfB supports an "all or nothing" setting for drivers. We are working on a much better solution where you can manage approving or suspending drivers.
