Event details

This month, we will be joined by the product managers for Azure Virtual Desktop with Azure Stack HCI. We'll be here to answer your questions about Azure Virtual Desktop session hosts on-premises for scenarios that can't move to the cloud. Want to improve performance for users in areas with poor connectivity? Need to provide access to legacy on-premises apps and data sources by keeping desktops and apps in the same location? Deploying Azure Virtual Desktop with Azure Stack HCI can help with these needs and more. Join us for insights and get the answers you need to adopt and deploy this service.

Hi, we are a very heavy Windows 365 and AVD shop. We have embraced Cloud PC and Cloud Boot solutions and follow any new initiatives the teams come up with.

We have a few questions in order of priority about the new Dedicated Cloud Boot.

    1.  Any workaround for Captive Portal Wi-Fi sign-in for Cloud Boot? Any plans to have this implemented?
      • We have a laptop fleet that is currently receiving Cloud Boot on their machines. When they travel to conferences, they are unable to accept TOS page for the Wi-Fi (happens on airplanes and conference Wi-Fi). This is a major roadblock for having a mobile Windows 365 fleet.
    2. How does Cloud Boot handle BCDR scenarios?
      • We currently leverage AVD as our BCDR solution in the event that Windows 365 is down. Is there any way for users to sign into an AVD machine if their Cloud PC is down via Cloud Boot. Currently, if Cloud PC is down, and the user is on Cloud Boot, there is no way to have them sign into AVD. Additionally, if a user utilizes DevBox, it overrides their Cloud Boot and forces them to sign into DevBox not their normal Windows 365 machine.
    3. How do users handle Cloud boot for initial sign-in for Password-less (WHfB)?
      • With the new Windows Hello for Business support, how does a user perform initial sign-in if they do not know their password? We are moving to full password-less and this is currently a roadblock we are facing.
    4. Any ETA on Offline mode?
    5. Any ETA to have location redirection enabled for Windows 365 machines that are using the Windows App (non-web).

Thank you so much for reviewing these questions. Our team has been loving the products and initiatives that the Cloud team has been deploying.

We are all looking forward to seeing the team at Ignite this year!

I have onprem hardware with me already. Recently bought, top in the line. Can i just use the existing HW to put Azure Stack HCI on it?

I´ve successfully deployed multiple nested AzS HCI 23H2 in a mature testlab but keep pulling my hair lately when deploying AVD - Everything works from the the same logical network using the same onprem AD (VM connected to AD and ARC installed) - just the AVD deployment stales at "CustomScriptExtension" with "Machine is not connected (Code: HCRP400)" - Tried all the steps @ https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-desktop/troubleshoot-vm-configuration but no joy - "Error: Azure Virtual Desktop Agent and Azure Virtual Desktop Agent Boot Loader are missing. C:\Windows\Temp\ScriptLog.log is also missing" is my state .... Any hints where to get additional insights what´s happening ? Thx in advance!
