I have many issues when trying to use MS Project and synch to a SharePoint list. I open the MPP file from the SharePoint assets page, I rarely change anything on line, preferring to use MS Project Pro. Yet, I routinely lose my timelines, get duplication of Tasks (almost all), an it is such a problem, and errors when trying to save (synch). I have just given up. Is this ever going to improve? I have been through all the articles, all the blogs and nothing helps prevent these errors.

Project pro is designed to synch to Project Online (Project Server in the cloud hosted in SPO). While MS says you can sync with just lists I've found that to be highly....optimistic 🙄.
If your licenses for Project pro are O365 licenses, then you should already have an automatically created special site collection called Project Web App (..../sites/pwa). That is Project Online. You should find much more success using that.
