Regarding licensing... Is Subscription Edition licensed through the standard methods or is there a link to Office 365 license. For example. If a user has an E3 / F3 Microsoft 365 license, they also have a CAL for Subscription Edition?

MicrosoftHi Giles, SharePoint Server Subscription Edition still follows the server/CAL model, but those licenses require Software Assurance. Microsoft doesn't offer perpetual licenses for SharePoint Server Subscription Edition like we did for the previous versions of SharePoint Server. If a Microsoft 365 license includes downgrade rights to be used with SharePoint Server, then that license can be used with SharePoint Server Subscription Edition.
If you let your Microsoft 365 license or your Software Assurance contact expire, then you no longer have the right to use SharePoint Server Subscription Edition.
