Event details
Join us for two special events where our Planner product team shares what is coming to the new Microsoft Planner.
In our Meet the Makers virtual event on April 3rd, leaders from the Planner product team will talk about the latest on the future of task and work management for Microsoft 365. They will explain how the new Microsoft Planner brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Microsoft Planner, the power of Microsoft Project for the web - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot - into a simple, familiar experience.
Our experts will showcase some of the key new capabilities and improvements of the new experience, including demonstrations on how to leverage Copilot in Planner to create plans, tasks, and goals and get Copilot to answer questions on progress, priorities, workload and more.
On April 4, we will host a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA). During the AMA session members of the Planner product team will answer questions directly from the community. This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from the recent Meet the Makers event.

Is there a diagram to show how all the apps integrate?
- Paul__M_Brass ContributorWhen will you be able to convert existing plans to premium?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeYes, that will be coming to new Planner and can already be achieved in the current Planner web at tasks.office.com using Copy Plan to Project.
- Rita_SeatonBrass ContributorDoes the new Planner integrate with Outlook, Todos?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeYes, any To Dos, or custom lists will show in new Planner, as well as Flagged E-mails Rita.
- ajewsonCopper ContributorHi - Jut wanted to clarify an earlier response to a question. If you look a the service description here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office365/servicedescriptions/project-online-service-description/project-web-service-description you see footnote 8 saying that the majority of features under Office 365 licenses are only available in the Default environment but there's no roadmap date to make them available in named environments - correct? The advice from MS partners is too use named environments for better control and security so there is a real dilemma.

Thanks for your feedback Andrew - you are correct that we don't have a date at this time for when these capabilities would be introduced to named/custom environments. Microsoft 365 users in named/custom environments would continue to have the access to the capabilities they had previously - as in they still can view premium plans, and if they have an E3/E5 license they can additionally update the percent completion of a task assigned to them.- Stephanie88Copper Contributor

Good day. I opted to utilize Planner versus Project for the Web because in Planner E3 users can add comments to update task status. If I understand correctly, when we are migrated to the new Planner, we will no longer be able to update task comments as E3 users? If so, can you please reconsider and allow E3/E5 users to:1. Mark complete
2. Change %complete
3. Add task commentsThis allows a PM to save extraordinary amounts of time by not having to reach out to many, many individuals to obtain updates. We also don't want to lose functionality we have in Planner with this change. We can't afford give 100s or 1000s of users P1 licensing. To effectively run a project any user in an organization can be a project team member.
Thank you.
- Mark-KashmanFormer EmployeeThis is the Project + guests article Roberto mentioned, "Guest access now available in Project for the Web!": https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/project-blog/guest-access-now-available-in-project-for-the-web/ba-p/3287168
- Jaime ChavezCopper ContributorWhen will we be able to migrate an existing Standard Plan to Premium Plan?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeYes, that will be coming to new Planner Jaime. You can already do this from the existing Planner web tasks.office.com endpoint using the Copy Plan to Project option. The best part is the licensing for M365 users ensures they can carry on participating in the plan once it 'goes premium'.
- Rita_SeatonBrass ContributorWhat limitations will Planner have?
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeIf you mean tasks limits on plans Rita - these remain the same as currently documented for Planner (basic plans) and Project (premium plans). If you had other limitations in mind please clarify.
- Bruce Kraft JrBrass ContributorWill we get a notification queue, like a bell symbol, that we can click on, so that way we don’t have to rely on emails to view a list of notifications, similar to clickup task management notifications or Facebook notifications
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeGreat feedback Bruce - be sure to vote for, or add this suggestion at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/search/a1a93b69-2f1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472
- DedraSimmonsCopper ContributorCan a task be co-linked to multiple cards or on multiple planners
- Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeIt can't Dedra, but certainly heard that request before. Make sure to vote for, or add the idea at https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/search/a1a93b69-2f1c-ec11-b6e7-0022481f8472
- Serge TremblayCopper ContributorAre there any plans to allow to add custom Fields (columns) and Custom views to Planner?
- NancyatMSFT
Microsoft
Hi Serge! Custom fields/columns are currently offered as a capability in premium plans and you can see more here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/create-a-custom-field-in-project-839d206f-b314-48f5-aa06-79140db93b94. Could you share more on what sort of custom views you're looking for? - Brian-SmithFormer EmployeeFor premium plans yes Serge, no plans for basic plans (but you can use labels of course)

Thank you Brian for your comment. The Enterprise Task Custom Fields would be excellent (like in Project Online). Many customers would like to have this task custom information to the Power BI Reports. Thank you.
