Microsoft Planner AMA
Event details
Join us for two special events where our Planner product team shares what is coming to the new Microsoft Planner.
In our Meet the Makers virtual event on April 3rd, leaders from the Planner product team will talk about the latest on the future of task and work management for Microsoft 365. They will explain how the new Microsoft Planner brings together the simplicity of Microsoft To Do, the collaboration of Microsoft Planner, the power of Microsoft Project for the web - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot - into a simple, familiar experience.
Our experts will showcase some of the key new capabilities and improvements of the new experience, including demonstrations on how to leverage Copilot in Planner to create plans, tasks, and goals and get Copilot to answer questions on progress, priorities, workload and more.
On April 4, we will host a special Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA). During the AMA session members of the Planner product team will answer questions directly from the community. This is a great opportunity to get answers to any questions you may have from the recent Meet the Makers event.

- Kim_KruthaupCopper ContributorWill the new Planner be available in Private Channels?
- AndrewFriedman
Microsoft
Hi Kim_Kruthaup, we're tracking this on our backlog. Here is a link to an entry in the Feedback Portal in case you'd like to upvote this item: Enable adding a planner tab to create task in private channels · Community (microsoft.com)
- Martin-CoupalIron ContributorAnd Shared Channels... Because it is not supported it makes shared channels unusable when planner tasks are required. This is forcing the creation of separate M365 Groups/Teams and feeds the proliferation chaos of M365 groups/teams. When you will address this feature, make sure we can easily attach files from the shared channel sharepoint site and that comments are also available (features missing from plannner plan linked to loop tasks list)
- CaseMitchellCopper ContributorI use a PowerBI dashboard to collect Project-for-the-web data. What can I expect if I want to integrate Planner(basic) or Planner (premium) data into my PBI tracker?

Holly1 What if Copilot could select active tasks for a PM to update actual progress? Tasks with work scheduled this week in a particular physical location or for a specific resource?
Example:
There are many things that a PM needs to do when managing a project. These are really PM activities rather than project tasks. One of these activities is to update project task progress. Copilot could offer to schedule these activities in one of the personal task lists and assist the PM by supplying tasks in premium plans that need to be updated. I'm sure that there are other activities that could be scheduled in a similar way. - samirp20Brass Contributorhow can i navigate to plan from a task in my task view?
- David_HopkinsBrass ContributorHi Samir. This capability isn't supported in the new Planner yet, but I'm happy to say it is on our backlog to support.
- CodyWisemanCopper ContributorWill we be able to @ mention people in our tasks?
- atrain204Iron ContributorSorry if I missed this but Planner (base, not premium) desperately needs an activity feed. Will this be added to your roadmap yet?
- mherremaIron ContributorI do not like the answer the team gave of relying on Teams to be an activity feed. You absolutely should be able to see history in context of Planner.
- Martin-CoupalIron ContributorAgree. We should be able to specify where we want the activity feed (Planner, Teams)
- Igor KaronIron ContributorNot sure if anyone asked this. Great that we can now sort columns! Any chance we would be able to create views like on SharePoint with predefined filters?
- MarkWonsilCopper ContributorWill Managers be able to view the tasks of their team?
- Ian BrucknerBrass ContributorThis is a big ask from my org. They want resource/line mangers to see the tasks their matrixed staff in projects have been assigned (alongside tasks they assign themselves as managers)... and further, they want to also see those tasks in context of the projects without having to be on every. single. team.
- kunalyadavBrass ContributorAbout the availability of new Planner experience endpoints for different platforms, when we can expect to use new Planner on Windows, Web, Mobile, and Outlook? when new Planner app in Teams be available as a standard release?
- Brian-SmithBronze ContributorAs mentioned in the Meet the Makers session https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcCLWfeENo4 the Teams experience comes first and is already rolling out. The other endpoints will follow.
- jkejrdavidsonCopper ContributorCan you create a plan template that can be forwarded and shared with others to use?
- Biatrice_Ambrosa
Microsoft
While we do not have the ability to allow custom templates, you can create a plan, share it with others that would like to use it as a template, and then have them use the copy plan functionality.
