Will administrators be able to disable file archiving for specific users or groups, and apply department billing only to those who retain access?

File-level archiving is coming to SharePoint doclibs in a public preview early next year. It will empower admins to enable or disable file-level archiving at a SharePoint site level. Archiving for OneDrive and departmental billing for archive isn't available yet.
Love that question “How does Copilot ground its answers in user content while maintaing accuracy and context?” There will definitely be times when the information in our Work context is incorrect and the info on the Web is correct. How Copilot handles this will be interesting. Will it prefer the Work context as the authoritative source? Or will it use the Web’s correct answer from a truly autoritative source, such as a learn.microsoft article?
LincolnDeMarisThis is a great question. Today, Copilot in OneDrive will always prefer the content that is currently in focus. But we are planning on bringing more control to this experience - similar to what you see in the core M365 Copilot experience, under the "Sources" selector.
How will old sharing links be migrated to Hero links?

The share experience will be fully backwards compatible with existing links. We will not migrate existing links in use into the hero link to ensure existing collaboration remains fully unblocked.
Love to hear more about what you can do with File/folders AI agent can do? Can I do something as simple as ensure any files I add to this folder and share to my sale team? What else might I be able to do?

For now, Copilot in files and folders is best at answering questions about the content that's in view. But we're working on making this agent more and more capable as a "OneDrive and SharePoint" expert - down the road, this agent will be able to create files, make intelligent edits, and keep things organized. Always with the human in control!
If you share the folder with your team, any file you add to it will be shared with your team. You won’t need Copilot’s help for that.
But yeah, I too am interested in the list of app skills Copilot will have within OneDrive. Today it has been “Create an FAQ. Compare. Summarise.” I hope to see more skills.
Will archived files be retained when an employee's OneDrive is deleted?

Archiving a file with M365 archive does not change the duration of that file's retention. Archived files are essentially 'tiered' into colder storage. Therefore, if there were archived files on an employee's OneDrive account and the account gets deleted, the archived files would be deleted as part of the account deletion.
When you archive a file, where does it go? How can I administer it? Do I have to have pay as you go billing set up? Any other configuration we Admins need to do to enable this or does it automagically appear?

Files archived with M365 Archive stay within the OneDrive and SharePoint services, honoring geo-residency requirements and offering the same high durability of OneDrive and SharePoint that you've come to rely on! Effectively, archived files are just 'tiered' into colder storage.
When it's available for SharePoint in a public preview early next year, file-level archive can be administered by admins after enabling it alongside pay-as-you-go billing. Admins can choose which sites have file-level archive enabled
How secure the data we feed into M365 Copilot in the case of investigation involvement?
I am wondering when we will start seeing hero-link in preview? when will we see more details about how the feature works? I just found the roadmap item Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365
