Excited to see Bulk Update and Applicable devices feature!! Thanks We've noticed that play-and-plug drivers often require reboots, Is it feasible to eliminate reboots associated with extension/play & Plug drivers? Our Users keep getting asked to reboot outside our usual patching schedule, and it's causing a lot of feedback. Is there a way to avoid restarts for all extension drivers?

Nov 28, 2023Great to hear! We are looking at how we can move driver installs and reboots outside of active hours, so even network or video drivers, won't interrupt end users. Will that work well for you?
- Komal190790Nov 28, 2023Copper ContributorI like the idea of scheduling drivers outside of active hours to avoid user interruptions. Does this mean drivers won't honor the specified deadline/grace period in the Update Policy, or could the active hours policy be limited to drivers only? Trying to understand how it would work, but I might be asking too many questions too soon.

We'd still want drivers to adhere to deadline/grace periods. And while we haven't fully designed it yet, I think we'd do the Install and Reboot outside of active hours until the deadline/grace period expire, then we would fall back to doing it during Active Hours, like we currently do for quality updates, for example.- benjiPMDec 12, 2023Copper ContributorHi David, I like the idea of having drivers actually install during the reboot/shutdown process, rather than during the middle of an active user session. In my experience using this feature so far.. the extension drivers, and driver installs are disruptive to users (screen flickering, loss of audio, etc).. it would be good if the deadlines would just be used to force the user reboots similar to when quality updates are installed and install the drivers at the time to reduce the impact on user experience. We don't have control over when extension drivers are released as well and I would be ok if they installed during the shutdown phase of the reboot process.
