For configuration management, would Desired State Configuration (DSC) support work for most needs?

Something we must trigger via the Bash functions they talked about for now. PowerShell isn't mentioned, therefore this is just a guess.
But DSC is not an important thing anymore as far as I know. The functions are the Core for Azure, but not as we know it (guess)
