Will a Copilot Studio license still be required for creating advanced SharePoint agents?
- tamas-bitai-tfsCopper Contributor
Is a Copilot license necessary for using agents in SharePoint, or is there another way to get access to just the agents functionality?
- Jane LeungCopper Contributor
I know the SharePoint copilot agent can be shared in Teams. Would also love the ability to embed it directly on a SharePoint page. I tried copy the link to copilot file and put it on a page. It works similar to open a file but upon closing the file, it redirects to the document library where the file is stored.

What is the actual roadmap for Agents in SharePoint? Is that posted anywhere?

What admin controls are available to disable ALL agents in a tenant.
My organization currently has a limited amount of MS built agents enabled (Facilitator, etc.) however the Copilot Studio Agent Builder is disabled so our users cannot create their own agents in BizChat. Can/will the same controls we are using to control access to 'Copilot Studio Agent Builder' be applied to SharePoint Agents?- cjtan

Creation of SharePoint agents is governed by the create, edit, read permissions for the site and/or location where the .agent file is saved. This allows the content owners to create a simple agent on their content to aid in discovery and understanding. It would be great to understand the concerns with this approach.
The control access to 'Copilot Studio Agent Builder' is not applied to SharePoint agents, at this time.

Are you using internally any metric to assess performance of the Agents doing RAG? Which ones? Is there going to be any dashboard to assess performance using those metrics? Is there going to be a user dashboard and an IT dashboard with different scopes and Points of View? How can I know as IT that all this agents are not providing quality information grounded on the repository documents?

When the extended capabilities vs Copilot Studio arrive - will we as administrators be able to disable it within our tenant until we are ready to turn it on. Or will it be pushed out no matter what and you need to turn it off afterwards. Or will it require to be turned on to be seen for our users when creating agents? Would prefer if we could control when that is possible to start using/allow.

Agent controls can be disabled using Restricted Content Discovery. Once a site is flagged with restricted content discovery, users can't see the Copilot icon on the upper right of the site. Therefore, they don’t have access to use the ready-made agent, create new agents, or add content from that site to any other agents. The restricted content discovery policy leaves site access unchanged but prevents the site's content from being surfaced in Microsoft 365 Copilot or organization-wide search for all users.

The emails generated here have caused considerable inconvenience. Despite the usefulness of the information, I have decided to disable email notifications and opt out

Thank you for sharing your feedback! To better understand the inconvenience you’re experiencing, could you clarify if this is related to notifications about SharePoint Agents specifically or notifications from the Microsoft Tech Community in general?
We’d love to help address the issue or share guidance on managing notifications more effectively, so you can stay informed without any disruption. Let us know!

I just noticed that ever since the event started, my email inbox has been flooded with messages on both my PC and phone. I’ve already turned off email notifications for the entire community. Thanks for noticing my message. I’ll find some time to come back and check out the issues and responses here. Some of the questions are actually my concerns too, and I really need answers to them right now, like how to control users from randomly creating agents and the capacity limits for agents.

When will advanced customization of SharePoint agents be available? I have an idea for a SharePoint agent that takes actions on behalf of the user, but I cannot add actions to the SharePoint agents currently available.

The Copilot Studio integration is currently in private preview, and look out for it shipping to general availability later this year.
