Copilot Question: Is Copilot with Data Protection (formerly the Bing Chat for Enterprise) now turned on by default for small businesses using, for example, the Copilot sidebar or copilot.microsoft.com when people are logged in with their company credentials? Or is there any action to take to turn on that Copilot function to get data protection for browsing?

Feb 28, 2024Hi Jack, currently the list of Microsoft licenses eligible for Copilot with commercial data protection include:
• Microsoft 365 E3, E5
• Microsoft 365 F3
• Microsoft 365 A3, A5 (Faculty only)
• Business Standard
• Business Premium
* With this eligibility list, we will look to expand to include other commercial Microsoft licenses that support Entra ID. We will give eligible customers 30 days’ notice before we expand to include licenses they own. *
If you are a small business using Copilot for Microsoft 365 with business standard or business premium, data protection is included. In regards to how employees will know if data protection is enabled, employees will need to sign into copilot.microsoft.com, bing.com\chat, Edge, or Windows using their Entra ID (i.e. work account). If they have an eligible license, they will then see the following notice above the chat input box: “Your personal and company data are protected in this chat.”
