Event Ended
Thursday, May 01, 2025, 08:30 AM PDTEvent details
Tune in to our Ask Microsoft Anything (AMA) event focused on the Frontier Program in Microsoft 365 Copilot on Thursday, May 1st, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM PDT. This session will explore early access experiences with Copilot reasoning agents—including Researcher and Analyst—and provide space to ask questions about how these agents support complex research and data analysis tasks at work.
This is a unique opportunity to connect directly with members of the Microsoft team who are working on the reasoning capabilities in Copilot. The AMA will be most useful for those interested in learning more about the design, functionality, and potential use cases of the Researcher and Analyst agents in a Microsoft 365 environment.
To learn more ahead of the event, we recommend reading the following blog posts that introduce the reasoning agents and the early access program:

- Microsoft 365 Copilot Frontier Experiences Becoming Available (April 2025)
Event Details:
This live on-air session offers a direct line to the team behind some of the newest reasoning agents in Copilot. Our experts will be available to discuss and answer questions about:
- Researcher: A tool for multi-step research tasks that draws from internal work content and external data sources to synthesize insights.
- Analyst: A data-focused agent that uses chain-of-thought reasoning and Python to analyze and interpret complex datasets.
- Frontier for Copilot program: An early access experience for exploring in-development features within Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Early patterns and questions: Common themes and scenarios seen so far across customers exploring reasoning agents.
- Integration with Copilot Studio: How reasoning agents can align with agent flows and advanced orchestration use cases.
Please note: This AMA will focus specifically on Researcher and Analyst agents. We won’t be addressing broader Copilot roadmap, licensing, or unrelated availability questions during this session. Please bring those questions into our Microsoft 365 Copilot community.
How does it work?
During this live event our experts will be available to offer personalized advice and discuss the security and governance capabilities of Copilot for Microsoft 365. Whether you're interested in exploring its advanced security features, seeking strategies for maintaining compliance, or have particular questions about the service, our team is ready to assist you. You’ll be able to submit your questions via chat and our presenters will answer live.
To participate, simply post your questions in the comments section. We encourage you to submit your questions early and continue to engage throughout the one-hour session. Remember, this is a chat-only event, so all interactions will take place in the Comments section without any video or live meeting components. Each question should be posted as a new comment to facilitate a smooth and organized discussion.
Don't miss this chance to interact directly with the minds behind Microsoft 365 Copilot and gain valuable insights to elevate your experience with this revolutionary tool. Mark your calendars and join us for an informative and engaging session!

Can you confirm that licensed copilot users can use these agents without additional costs from PAYG programs?
Thanks for the AMA - very helpful 👏.

Just to clarify on licensing - when Researcher and Analyst go GA, they won’t be included in the M365 Copilot license? Maryleen said we don’t know pricing yet which is confusing
- jacksproul_tdsCopper Contributor
Nvm sounds like it’s included in M365 Copilot but consumption pricing for non-Copilot users is unknown currently

When will these new agents start rolling out in Europe?

We are still not able to access these agents, can you please revisit on topic of availability

Once these agents leave Frontier, will they still require a license? I'd like to democratize deeper thinking via Copilot.

We're keen to release agents and we're excited about Researcher and Analyst, but honestly we're also really concerned that we will release it only then for Microsoft to start monetizing it, creating premiumisation as we've seen in other products. It's very challenging for large enterprises to turn this on with limited governance and trust that it will remain as it is once we do...

Our question is not really related to Researcher and Analyst agent but the overall controls to agents. Their is a single control for agents/extensions and enabling it allow selected users/groups to use and create agents/extensions. We want to restrict "create new agent" capabilities and this single control is causing significant security and compliance concerns.
