When M365 has a global outage, admins are supposed to access the M365 admin center for these incidents. However, oftentimes, the M365 admin center itself is offline! I have to go to downdetector or MSFT Twitter to find out (several hours later) that there is an outage affecting customers. Is there an option to register a work cell phone that Microsoft can send M365 service downtime alerts in regions?

- Paolo CiccuNov 17, 2021Former EmployeeHi Emy, this is something that we are currently working on to provide a better experience for when the M365 Admin Center is offline. Today when there is a major outage to the Admin Center you can go to the https://status.office.com page and we will have the latest up to date information about the outage here. With in the next quarter we are looking to providing notifications for this status page which gets updated when the Admin Center is inaccessible. As for alerts on specific services you can sign up for email notifications within the Admin Center under the 'Preferences' option in the Service Health page. We do not have a way to specific alerts to certain regions just yet, and currently notifications are sent out if there is an incident or advisory that is currently posted to your organization.

Another great way to stay on top of updates and outages is the Admin Mobile App (though it too will be affected if the admin center is not available). https://docs.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/admin/admin-overview/admin-mobile-app
