Meet the makers: The story behind Loop
Event details
In our 'Meet the Makers' virtual event on August 14th, leaders from the Microsoft Loop product team kickoff our learning series to share insights about the future of creating together with ease – no matter where you are or what tools you use. This opening session focuses on the strategy and vision for how Loop unlocks the power of shared thinking - with the intelligence of Microsoft Copilot – into a simple, familiar experience to get more done, right where you are, coordinated across your apps. And there will be experts live, active in the comments to address questions and feedback based on what’s shared

- m36fiveIron ContributorGreat event! Some feedback: I had to write a whitepaper for my organization so that we could understand where all of the data lives, what happens to the data when a user leaves the organization, and how it can be retained and recovered via eDiscovery. Please create a comprehensive document/page that addresses these questions/answers for customers. My dream scenario would be documentation that includes: 1. Differences between the Microsoft Loop App and it's components with regard to functionality and backend storage 2. Loop workspaces and how sharing and retention works 3. Where Loop content is stored when created in different places 4. How storage affects access after user deletion 5. How administrators can use the M365 Compliance Center to retrieve Loop components from various locations 6. Version control and how users can track and restore changes made to Loop pages and Loop components Thanks for listening.

Hey Joel - thanks for the feedback! One of the places to start is our admin blog - which covers where Loop data is stored. https://aka.ms/LoopGAITAdminBlog. For compliance questions - take a look at this page https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/loop/loop-compliance-summary. Also we will have another webinar on Admin controls for Loop in September!- m36fiveIron ContributorThanks! I'll check out those links.
- Loop App in Teams is a nice addition, however, what I see from my customers is that they are looking for a way to add a loop workspace or page as a Teams tab, any plans on that? Thanks
- ThomasBurkBrass Contributor
Possible solution: You copy a loop page hyperlink. :)~ (having subpage links on that page)
1.) Go to teams' channel
2.) Navigate to the header bar
3.) Select '+' key
4.) Add website
5.) Name the tab in the appropriate field
6.) Paste link
Voila 🙂 - RobSmith1426Copper ContributorIf you add a loop via a channel post - it creates a .loop file. open it just like an excel file.

- Mark-KashmanFormer EmployeeIT FYI | Loop workspaces and the content created in Loop workspaces are stored in SharePoint Embedded containers. IT admins can manage access to Loop workspaces experiences using Cloud Policy. Learn more: https://learn.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/loop/loop-workspaces-configuration.

Loop makes a great note-taking tool, bringing an ease of use that improves productivity. OneNote has its own strengths, such as OCR, search, endless canvas. Many are torn between the roles of Loop, OneNote, and even Whiteboard. How can these tools be integrated into one intuitive tool? An argument could be made for further integration between Visio and Whiteboard/Loop/OneNote.
- RobSmith1426Copper ContributorI use loop for the custom tables and hyperlink to the related pages in OneNote - each tool has it's strength and lean into them. If they are cross-hyperlinked. It essentially is 1 program.
- ThomasBurkBrass ContributorThe addition of component (mermaid) to LOOP has been quite helpful to get process flow, Gantt charts, user journeys, mind maps, and quadrant charts and diagrams. Combining with Copilot it is simply the best. thank you again for the great integration and functionality within LOOP. This has saved me so much time...

Thanks for the feedback! We've heard this ask from other customers - for Loop, we are working with other parts of the M365 suite to support Loop components, like OneNote does now, so stay tuned!
