Can Viva Engage communities be pulled into this view?
- NogaRonen
Microsoft
At this point you are not able to add Viva Engage communities.
The Viva Engage app is already available in Teams, and we are looking for opportunities to bring these too experiences even closer together in the near future.

Looks awesome! When will this be rolled out for the GCC tenant? And if you do not have a roll out date, do you have a no sooner than date?
- Shikha_Varshney
Microsoft
Hi Jordan, thanks for your question. As part of our standard process, the new experience will be rollout to GCC tenant after commercial tenant's rollout is complete (ETA late Jan'25).

When will this become available in the public preview? It is not showing for our organization yet.
- NogaRonen
Microsoft
Pubic preview have started rolling out this week. You should be seeing this experience in the next few days.

Can you mute everything pinned within a specific section? Let's say you want to focus on one Project section vs another.
- NogaRonen
Microsoft
You can mute specific conversations using the ellipsis menu. If you need one click way to mute an entire section, please submit it as a feedback request.

Have you thought about renaming the new combined area to "Collaborate" instead of "Chat"?
Since this new combined Teams/Chat area will include both chats and teams channels, calling it "Chat" just isn't intuitive to new or existing users. You should really think about renaming this combined area to something that makes more sense than "Chat".

Why would anyone intuitively go to an area called "Chat" to get to a Team Channel Files tab?

Hi Kevin, we evaluated and researched multiple options for the name, finally deciding on Chat as the option that is most familiar to users.

I am in Public Preview. When can I realistically expect to see this? Also, when can those in my org (who aren't in public preview) see this. I want to sure I have enough time to play with it and create the right training material and OCM outputs before our entire organization sees this.

We are rolling out to Public Preview these days. If you didnt receive it yet- you will in the next few days.
General availability is expected in early 2025, by mid-February.

A better improvement would be to finally get rid of the reliance on SharePoint...Teams users shouldn't even know that SharePoint is handling the file storage in the background.
This should have been done at the inception of Teams. If Teams users never had to "Open in SharePoint" to accomplish certain tasks, this change to putting everything in Chat wouldn't be necessary.
When will Teams finally have all SharePoint document management functionality within Teams and remove the need to "Open in SharePoint"? Somehow, there still is not feature parity with SharePoint document management.

If we switch to the new experience where only Chat shows and not Teams, what will happen to the Shared and Notes tabs that every channel gets by default. More importantly, what about any other apps like Planner that we have added to a Channel. I'm assuming you won't be able to add apps to the channel.
- dianahsu
Microsoft
Hi relamine, Chat now includes both channels and chats. So, when you create a channel, you'll have access to all the default resources like Notes, and ongoing access to add apps like Planner.

Will we be able to turn this feature on when it comes available? Or will it be a forced update?
- NogaRonen
Microsoft
At launch, a self-service, guided onboarding flow within the product will help users discover the new experience and configure it to their preferences. Users who prefer to keep chat and channels separate can easily do so during the onboarding process, or at any time later, without needing IT assistance.
