Microsoft Fabric & AI Learning Hackathon Informational AMA: What will you build?
Event details
The Microsoft Fabric & AI Learning Hackathon is underway and we're excited to learn about your project ideas and questions! Join us for an interactive session where we'll look at recent announcements from the European Microsoft Fabric Community Conference, share tips and best practices for competing in the Hackathon, provide technical and informational support, and connect you with expert resources to support ongoing development of your Hackathon project!
An AMA is a live text-based online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with Microsoft product experts who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback. The AMA takes place entirely in the comments below. There is no additional video or audio link as this is text-based.
Check out this blog post for the official announcement about the Hackathon and check out the Fabric Hackathon website for all the details about the Hackathon.
Feel free to post your questions anytime in the comments below beforehand, if it fits your schedule or time zone better, though questions will not be answered until the live hour.

- suhuilOccasional ReaderHi moderator! how can we get registered in Fabrics with a personal Outlook account? Is it required to have an enterprise email address to get a free trial in Fabrics?
- pdecarlo
Microsoft
Work / Enterprise email's can be used to activate the Microsoft Fabric trial if it is recognized by Microsoft as an organizational account (and is not blocked by policies). However, if you prefer to use a personal email, you can register a new or existing Microsoft account to enable the Fabric Trial.
Details on how to access Microsoft Fabric for developers, startups and enterprises along with steps to setup a new Microsoft account can be viewed here (Note: this method requires setting up an M365 E5 subscription which will limit your ability to access the trial for a maximum of 30 days): https://blog.fabric.microsoft.com/blog/accessing-microsoft-fabric-for-developers-startups-and-enterprises?ft=All
For a different method of how to setup a Fabric Trial without a business email address see (this method will allow you to access the trial for 60 days): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6K4ADjkWjaY
- venkatvallikannuCopper Contributorcan we integrate ticketing tools with Outlook, so we can create ticket for each communication. this will help to calculate the workload and add subsequent replies in one place.

Microsoft
This would certainly be possible, although may require some customization to achieve, using the Data Activator workload in Microsoft Fabric. More details are available here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/data-activator/data-activator-introduction
- askpatrickwCopper ContributorHow can enterprise clients properly change control and version all aspects of a MS Fabric deployment and implementation?
- pdecarlo
Microsoft
Microsoft Fabric supports Git integration, allowing developers to backup, control versions, revert to previous stages, and collaborate on their work using Git branches. However, only Git in Azure Repos with the same tenant as the Fabric tenant is currently supported. Azure DevOps on-prem and sovereign clouds are not supported. More details are available at: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/cicd/git-integration/intro-to-git-integration?tabs=azure-devops
- askpatrickwCopper ContributorNone of my Azure cloud clients use Azure DevOps. 100% use GitHub.

Hi Moderator Can you point me to Azure Arc/HCL and Microsoft Nexus product community/events (if any) please.
- marconiwirelessCopper ContributorHi Sir, Can you please help us reach Hypervisor V ,Terrafarm community/event page
- EricStarkerGold ContributorI'm afraid I don't know exactly what community would cover that. Please note this is out of scope for this event which is specifically around the Microsoft Fabric & AI Learning Hackathon. Sorry we're not able to assist further on this question.

Azure Arc - Microsoft Community Hub for the discussion space
Azure Arc Blog - Microsoft Community Hub for the blog
I'm not familiar with any current community around Microsoft Nexus specifically.
Maybe this blog will help since it's telecom-related:
(1) Azure for Operators Blog - Microsoft Community Hub
- marconiwirelessCopper ContributorAny blog related to telecom will be helpful as well
- EricStarkerGold ContributorWelcome to the Microsoft Fabric & AI Learning Hackathon Informational AMA: What will you build? Sir/Madam, I am trying to join the Microsoft event below in the Microsoft Teams app, and the event administrator is NOT granting me access to the virtual event room. Could someone please let me know that I am trying to join? Sorry, but with all the difficulties of everyday life, opening a period on Tuesday morning to watch the class is extremely rude on the part of the administrator to prevent or make it difficult to enter the virtual room. Thank you, Angela Angela Canelas (email address removed by moderator for privacy)
- EricStarkerGold ContributorHello! You're in the correct place. There is no Microsoft Teams event here, no audio or video, all text. If you have any questions for the team, please post them in a thread here! There is no Microsoft event room to grant you access to - as I set up this event, I can assure you of that! The entire event takes place on the page you are on right now.

- gabriel-lopes7Occasional ReaderHI, Why Brazil is excluded? Doesn't make sense
- pdecarlo
Microsoft
The exclusion of Brazil from hackathon eligibility is due to legal restrictions. Specifically, the rules state that the hackathon is not open to residents of certain countries where the laws of the United States or local law prohibit participating or receiving a prize in the hackathon. This means that Devpost, the platform managing the hackathon, can only support eligibility in countries that allow participation and prize reception in such events.
