Windows Server 2025 Public Preview - Windows Update issue
- Jun 17, 2024KB5039239 appears to be for both Win 11 and WS 2025 pre-release. That is what was installed on my WS 2025 pre-release through the Windows Update service.
MS has released a cumulative update for 24H2 Server 2025 and Client recently. .863 should now be available. I only noticed when someone on twitter said they have updated the 26100 blogpost for client saying they have started to release 24H2 again to Release Preview channel with a new patch release for it. This could be because of the 'Recall' feature they have now Recalled. Interesting that they stopped deployment of it without saying why. (https://blogs.windows.com/windows-insider/2024/05/22/releasing-windows-11-version-24h2-to-the-release-preview-channel/). The update .863 should also now be available on your Server 2025 as both client and server are on the same build with the same monthly updates as it has shown up on both my clients and my server.
JoshC are you able to get Windows Updates with the 26100.1.240331-1435.ge_release_SERVER_EVAL_x64FRE_en-us.iso image from Eval Center?
This is what I am getting when going to Settings >> Windows Update:
If I reinstall Windows Server 2022, I am able to get Windows Updates. It seems to me this Windows Server 2025 Eval image has Windows Update disabled.
- sjkpublicJun 17, 2024Brass ContributorI do not WSUS. Make sure you are not going to a WSUS server.
I did the update through settings / windows update. It automaticly
downloaded and installed KB5039239. You can also manually download
it from the Microsoft Update Catalog.- AJ_CastleJun 17, 2024Copper ContributorI am not using WSUS either. By the way, KB5039239 is a Windows 11 Windows Update, is not for Windows Server 2025.
