Windows Server 2016 build 16278 doesn't support join to Windows Server 2003 domain
Hello,
as someone experienced the same like me in the object? I have an old domain done with Windows Server 2003 R2 and when I try to join the insiders machine I can't and obtain the message "Failed to join domain", while I can do it with a plain "vanilla" Windows Server 2016 edition (core and with desktop experience).
I also have the same problem with Windows 10 version downloaded with "Skip Ahead" option, so I think they share the same kernel and same behaviour.
I file e a bug (or feedback) to Microsoft in the feedback hub

thanks for interesting link. I'll give it a test enabling the SMBv1 to see if this is the problem.
