Window Server flighting and Domain Controllers

Hi,

 

I am having and issue with Windows Server flighting on domain controllers.  On my DC new builds are never offered and the Windows Insider Program page in settings will say we can't reach this page right now.  If I demote the DC flighting works again and the build is offered.  

 

Is this by design that flighting is disabled or  is there something that I can do to try to troubleshoot this?

    For domain controllers, I’d be careful about putting preview builds into production just for flighting. Testing in an isolated lab or with a non-critical DC first gives you a chance to catch AD, replication, or compatibility issues before they affect the domain.

    After several build updates, my DC environment has finally reached a point where ‘Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program’ is displayed correctly, but it seems the updates aren’t being delivered to the DC via Windows Update.

    Consequently, I have to apply the updates manually each time using the Setup.exe file from the ISO.

    As components such as ADCS and IIS can be updated normally via Windows Update, it appears there are restrictions in place specifically for DCs.

    Although the schema is updated in the Canary channel, with the current ISO as it stands—which lacks the adprep MUI language DLL—it’s not even possible to update the schema.

    I’ve submitted feedback, but it doesn’t seem they have any intention of fixing it.
