insider Server + Exchange 2016

Has anyone had any luck installing exchange 2016 on an insider build?  I just setup a basic test domain, and when installing exchange server it fails configuring pre-requisites.

Windows defender firewall (mpssvc)' cannot be configured due to the following error: Access is denied

It is running :

set-service mpssvc -startuptype automatic

start-setupservice -servicename mpssvc

Of course the service is already running and automatic, so its kind of a moot point but there is no way to bypass.  No amount of changes to the registry to add permissions matters and I have run as both local and domain admin.

Using the same exchange file and a test lab based on windows 2016 commercial build, works fine.

Exchange 2016 requires the full installation of Windows Server (in 2016, it's called Desktop Experience), and isn't explictly supported for installation on Server Core.

Yeah, I just got bit by that same issue, just a bit late.

Server version 1709 (which was probably what you were testing on) no longer includes the Desktop Experience code in the box.

Which begs the question - Whither, Exchange? I mean, now that it seems Desktop is "passe" on Server.
