Resolving 'Login Credential Not Allowed' Error on Windows Server 2022 After STIGs Polcy
After applying Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) policy on my Windows Server 2022, I've encountered an error stating 'the login credential you're trying to use isn't allowed' and am unable to sign in, effectively locking me out. This seems related to the sign-in options specified by the policy, possibly due to restrictions on certain login methods. Has anyone faced a similar issue or can offer guidance on bypassing this to regain access for troubleshooting and policy adjustment?

This sounds more like a User Rights Assignment introduced by the STIG configuration than a credential problem.
I would check the effective settings for:
Allow log on locally
Allow log on through Remote Desktop Services
Deny log on locally
Deny log on through Remote Desktop Services
The Deny settings take precedence over Allow settings.
If you still have another administrative account or console access, run:
gpresult /h C:\Temp\gpresult.html
Then identify which GPO is configuring the affected User Rights Assignment.
If it comes from a domain GPO, changing Local Security Policy will only be temporary because the GPO will apply again. I would correct the offending STIG/GPO configuration rather than trying to bypass authentication.
