RDS File Type Associations
I created a lab environment to test RDS using Windows Server 2019 servers (DC and RD Session host) and Windows 10 clients, either member or not of the AD domain.
I am unable to configure File Type Associations.
I set File Type Associations in the RemoteApp program properties inside my Collection,
I created a certificate, exported it and imported on the client, I configured RemoteApp and Desktop Connections in Control Panel of my clients and I see my RemoreApp applications in Work Resources.
I can start applications in Work Resources, but there is no way to configure file associations so that a .txt file in my Windows 10 client is opened using the RemoteApp instead of the locally installed application.
I think I missed some relevant step, but I can't understand what is the step I missed.
Can anybody please help?
Is there any documentation explaining the whole of the process to implement File Type Associations, including ALL the necessary steps?
Regards

Many thanks for your answer.
Let me understand: do you mean that after setting the file type association on the RD server via GUI I have to enter the Set-RDFileTypeAssociation command on the same server for each RemoteApp?
Should I do anything else on the RD server and/or on the client?
At the moment I can't try, but I'll update as soon as I can make a test in my lab.
Regards- I made some further investigation.
Based on page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/80184/remoteapp-file-types-association.html and on some tests I performed in my lab it looks like the file types association can be implemented by creating a GPO and specifying the default connection URLin: "\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\RemoteApp and Desktop Connections" for users.
I still wander if there is a solution for clients not joined to the same domain.
Many thanks, anyway
