Windows users who prefer to use Windows over Linux, why do you choose to?

I'm interested in understanding why many Windows users prefer to stick with Windows instead of switching to Linux, especially since Windows offers a familiar interface and broad software compatibility. However, I’ve noticed that not everyone is completely happy with this choice, as some encounter issues with system stability, privacy concerns, or limited customization options compared to Linux. I’d like to hear from Windows users about their reasons for choosing Windows over Linux and whether they experience any frustrations or limitations that make them consider alternatives. Sharing your experiences can help clarify what factors influence the decision to stay with Windows and what challenges might lead some users to explore other operating systems.

Windows, more specifically Windows 11. It is more efficient for productivity and gaming.

I've used Windows since v 1.0 and it's what I'm familiar with. I've tried Linux a few times over the years and other that have a Raspberry-Pi running some ad-busting software on my home network, I've never embraced Linux.

There's too many versions and as I get older I want ease of use, and Linux just doesn't cut it for me in the desktop world.

The main reasons for choosing Windows over Linux are its broad software compatibility, gaming support, and the out-of-the-box experience that requires no technical tweaking.

  • I'm still using windows but only just, the main reason being the expense of replacing some specific bits of hardware that only have Windows support. If windows 11 stops supporting them or if Linux starts to support them, then I'll be done.

Each new OS release and each new upgrade from Microsoft pushes that further away.  The constant need to ram AI into everything, the adverts inside a paid product on my own device, these are making it harder and harder to stay.
My livingroom PC which I use to consume media and play games has already migrated to Linux. The wife who uses her PC for email and social media is also done (She moved to a chromebook).
