Windows upgrade

I was a Beta tester for Win7. Because of that when it was fully released, I was given a copy of the Win7 Ultimate Signature Edition and I was told in a letter that came with it in the party box that I would be included free of charge in any subsequent OS release as Win7 was the base platform for all things to come. I was able to upgrade to Win10 Pro 64bit but when the Win11 free upgrade was happening, I wasn't able to upgrade as my system wasn't compatible. I was running a 4th gen i5. I just upgraded to an amd zen5 system this weekend and went to get my copy of Windows 11 Pro 64bit but found that I was to be charged $199 USD. A nice woman I had the pleasure of talking to said she would be able to get the price to $99 USD. I find that unacceptable per my statement about testing Win7. Had the Win11 not had any requirement restrictions for the download, this wouldn't be an issue. I have used the same activation key from Win7 Ultimate 64bit through the latest version of windows 10 Pro 64bit and three different motherboards now. Please allow me what I am owed for being a loyal Windows user and promoter over the decades that I have had access to computers.
