Windows system suddenly unable to set Notepad as the default application for *.md files?
Today, I suddenly cannot open *.md files directly with Notepad by double-clicking them. The system prompts me to select an application, but I cannot select Notepad. I have tried modifying the file association through the default app settings, but it did not work. Currently, I can only open files manually through the Notepad menu, which is extremely inconvenient. I need your help.

It sounds like the file association for .md files (Markdown files) has been broken or corrupted. Since you've already tried changing the default app via system settings without success.
How very windowsy to blame something that happens to everyone on the specific user without any analysis whatsoever beyond blind assumption.
So very windowsy that we mostly look elsewhere for meaningful help because it's more common than not here.
