Windows Insider Beta Build 10.0.2.22000.100 stuck at 61% when installing
Tried to install the preview build through windows update.
On my notebook - no problem, working fine.
On my desktop PC: Stuck forever at 61%.
Already tried:
- Unplugging USB devices.
- Windows Update troubleshooter
- Install from ISO (cancelled, will not let me keep my files AND apps and settings but files only)
- googling if there are any known devices interfering (found Conexant Audio drivers were causing this in the past, but not installed on my system).
- cleaning up Windows Update folders (c:\windows\softwaredistribution)
Nothing worked so far. Still might be a driver issue, but how to find out which one? Dont want do go through all devices...
- Update:
Tried again after reading about this specific error again and again. This time UNINSTALLED and DISABLED all Sound drivers. (I did not have the Conexant drivers installed which are mentioned in many posts around the net).
However, Microsoft, this obviously has been an issue for several users for several feature updates. I am on the current Windows 11 beta channel build now on my desktop PC also. But very, very annoying bug. (though it might be in third party drivers - it should be addressed!)
- Noah_PoitrasCopper Contributortry installing windows 11 through windows update on the dev or beta channel. if your PC isnt compatible with TPM 2.0 ( witch sucks i know ) then install wont precede. try making sure your not doing anything in the background such as game downloads or other internet bogging tasks. make sure you do a full virus and malware check. sometimes malware and dirty programs will block windows update. if this doesn't help then all i can say at least is that your PC is just not working right and to get a new one or get is serviced ( if possible )

Noah_PoitrasThis is a 2020 PC build and it is fully compatible, of course with TPM 2.0 (enabled). WhyNotWin11 not showing any problems.
Let it run overnight, still stuck at 61%.
And I will not make a clean install, I'd really like to keep my files and settings.
Will test on my notebook then, only, where it installed within minutes.
Or will come back to this if there is a solution.

Yeah sorry not doing another reset. I've done that and it didn't work. ISO wouldn't make a difference...

It looks like this is probably the cause of the problem.
Only installing ISO without settings and applications can help - MicrocrapCopper Contributor
I'm running into the same issue and have been for the better part of a week. Tried to get support but to no avail. Customer support directed me here, to the wasteland of no response from Microsoft. 25 views counting and 1 like... how the hell is this suppose to help. Love the fact that Microsoft has the community trying to figure out how to fix their broken crap. Feel like we should be the ones getting paid. Microsoft needs to take responsibility and provide real, human support. I'm tired of this crap.
