Windows 12 as far as i know?
As per this thread created, i got some information about Windows 12, which is:
- Windows 12 is coming about late 2024 or early 2025.
- Windows 12 is possibly already show up on Canary Channel although it is not officially confirmed.
- Several news sources say that HP give a hint if around October 2024, the Windows 11 version 24H2 (or Windows 11 2024 Update) is released, while HP is keep silent about Windows 12, which is possibly Windows 12 will be delayed a bit later after Windows 11 24H2 released.
- System requirements for Windows 12 is definitely higher than Windows 11. Windows 12 still require TPM 2, Secure Boot support, and processor that capable to use hardware accelerated VBS properly, such as processor that released on 2018 and later. Windows 12 require minimum 8 GB of ram and possibly still same 64 GB disk space, while SSD is becoming a mandatory. Actually, Windows 12 require special hardware named NPU (Neural Processing Unit) for all features in Windows 12 is working properly, but since the NPU is still very expensive to acquire (or basically you need an Intel Core Ultra 5 125U at least), so these requirements should be optional.
- Information about whether Windows 12 will be a subscription based operating system or not is still unclear, but most speculation says that Windows 12 is not required to subscribe to use.

Nowadays microsoft is not looking towards E-waste.
Windows is most used os also better than other os
If your pc is older 2018 you can not even bypass the system requirements of Windows 12 like Windows11
I'll hang fire until Windows 12 R2 comes out to be safe. 🙂
- Based on currently reveals it should be released on later next year instead of 2024.
- There is a strong possibility that it is true, just like when they said that no version would come after the presentation of version 10, it did not arrive for three months, then version 11 came. I have a very hard time seeing it being able to require NPU requirements on Windows, as this is mostly for running AI, and has nothing to do with security classification.
I work in IT within a Swedish municipality's IT, we are not even allowed to have a Microsoft account, everything must be run via Active Directory and saved locally on the computer in the matter of GDPR in Europe in order not to break laws.
No cloud storage either and we are not allowed to run any extensions to browsers or in the Office package that can risk and collect data is prohibited.
and we will absolutely not replace thousands of computers to support AI, an AI that could possibly risk reading data, it would also be against the GDPR.
So if you were to demand AI support via NPU, first of all, Microsoft would lose every single government and municipality in Europe from upgrading, gamers don't care about AI.
So it would probably be a real problem to get people to switch to Windows 12.
Of all Windows end users, there are even 10% who care about AI on a larger scale, translating text, and generating text can easily be handled with normal CPU power, advanced AI functions that possibly require NPU cannot be many compared to the number of Windows end users.
Dean3610 You are not alone either, i would not care about AI either.
As a private person completely uninterested in AI in both Office and Windows, possibly being able to retrieve more accurate weather. but you hardly need NPU for that.
In working life, with all the GDPR laws within the Union, we would most likely disable these via group policy, so the end users cannot activate these except for some less specific ones, but it would require that each specific function be checked against the GDPR laws in the Union, the AI that possibly can reading and writing files on the computers would be strictly prohibited.
Should Microsoft require NPU, they would have to release a unique version for companies/governments to the EU that removes the requirements and does not include the features at all.
But it would be practically easier for Microsoft to just disable functions on computers that do not have NPU processors in such a case.
Setting system requirements for security reasons can probably be accepted by everyone, but setting system requirements for an operating system that maybe 1% of end users will only use feels like it would be the death of Windows as a whole and let Linux take over.
Because even Microsoft Active Directory has received competition recently with Jump Cloud.
What about windows 11 are you going to shut it down

I feel very bored with Windows 11. It's most boring OS with boring design after Windows 8 with its junk metro design (thank god they dropped that crap). I hope they release something new like Windows 12. I don't know if it's true about subscribtion. Hope not, because if they do this crap, I'll for sure won't upgrade to 12, if it even comes out, but knowing our unstable Microsoft is, I'm not sure if we even see Windows 12.
I don't know if it's me or not, but nowadays everything seems boring compared to past. In the past we had screensavers, you could get a lot of different, interesting screensavers, nowadays they're dead and no one uses them anymore. In the past people were chatting in MSN, SKYPE and etc, now no one uses such softwares... I think we're living in a most boring period in 2024.
- Hi all there won't be a windows 12 operating system and maybe if Microsoft do decide to release a beta version itl only be windows 11 with a new look and a few tweaks. Microsoft are currently sliding Artificial intelligence into windows 11 and Microsoft edge so they won't be abandoneding windows 11 any time soon so don't worry to much everyone. Windows 10 users will be offered a free upgrade to windows 11 only for a limited time because there is more windows 10 machines out there than windows 11 pcs. Windows 11 is constantly being overhauled and updated so if Microsoft keep up the good work
