Windows 11: Will closing the laptop lid without putting it to sleep damage the computer?
Just switched from a MacBook to a Windows 11 laptop. I'm used to simply closing the laptop lid without manually selecting sleep mode, and I'm concerned whether this action might cause hardware damage or affect the system's lifespan. Need clarification on Windows' default lid-closing behavior and recommended safety settings.

When you close the lid, Windows typically puts your laptop into sleep mode. This is safe and designed to save power while keeping your work ready when you wake it up.

Closing your Windows 11 laptop lid will not damage hardware - Windows handles this gracefully. However, the default behavior differs from macOS and can cause surprises.

By default, Windows 11 is configured to put your laptop to sleep when you close the lid. This is generally safe and designed to conserve power and protect hardware.
