I ran into the same “Undoing changes made to your computer” issue — super frustrating. Basically, it means something breaks mid-install (often drivers, antivirus, or corrupted setup files). Here’s what worked for me:
1️⃣ Clean up leftover upgrade files
- Open File Explorer → enable hidden items
- Delete these folders (if they exist):C:\$WINDOWS.~BT C:\$WINDOWS.~WS
- Reboot afterward.
2️⃣ Disable antivirus and cleanup startup stuff
- Temporarily turn off any third-party antivirus or security software.
- In Run → msconfig → Services tab, hide Microsoft services → click Disable all (just for the upgrade).
3️⃣ Run Windows Update Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings → System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters → Windows Update → Run.
4️⃣ Use ISO upgrade (offline method)
- Download Windows 11 ISO from Microsoft.
- Right-click → Mount → run setup.exe.
- When it asks “Download updates,” choose Not right now.
- Follow the wizard — this skips most update-related issues that cause the Windows 11 upgrade failed rollback.
5️⃣ Optional check:
After the failure, check this log for clues:
C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setuperr.logAfter doing the above, mine finally went through fine.
